Some places leave a mark on you. For several years, a building in the heart of Salem, Massachusetts was my studio — the place where I mixed paint, chased light, and watched countless canvases come to life. It was where I developed ideas, wrestled with compositions, and found my rhythm as a painter. That building has always held a special place in my creative life.

This spring, that same space has been transformed into The Courier Hotel, a beautifully renovated boutique hotel at 201 Washington Street in Salem. When the hotel reached out and asked if I would display my paintings in their lobby, I didn't hesitate. It felt like the perfect homecoming — my work returning to the very walls that inspired so much of it.

The Transformation

Seeing the before and after of this space has been remarkable. What was once my working studio — with its paint-splattered floors, canvases stacked against the walls, and the particular quality of light that I chased every morning — is now a warm, welcoming hotel suite. The bones of the building are still there, and something of its character remains. I like to think the paintings on display carry a little of that history with them.

Beginning May 1st, 2026, a selection of my original paintings will be on view in the lobby of The Courier Hotel. All works are available for purchase. If you're in Salem, I'd love for you to stop in, see the space, and spend a little time with the paintings.

There's something special about acquiring a painting that carries the history of the place where it was made. These works reflect the light, atmosphere, and character of Salem and of New England — and now they've come home.
